With 10 years of teaching experience I have been fortunate to be able to help drummers of all abilities realise their drumming ambitions. Taking students with no prior knowledge of the instrument, through to being proficient across many styles, confident at reading music and comfortable at being able to improvise and play in a live setting.

My teaching focuses on an even balance between learning to play practically in the context of popular music, as well as learning the theory and reading. I find practising both playing by ear and reading hugely beneficial to ensuring students can develop their skills quickly and understand how to apply what they are learning to live and band settings.

I mostly teach the Rockschool syllabus grades and find these grades to be usual in covering all of the skills required to develop students playing. I can teach other grade syllabus’ as well including ABRSM and Guildhall.

If grades are not your thing though, I can teach away from this and encourage a student led style, if there is a song you would like to learn, I can help you learn it.

I can teach from my studio or do home visit lessons which in my experience I have found beneficial for students to learn on their own kit.
